Globalstar™ Battery TestingThe battery meter on the Globalstar™ satellite telephone gives a reading on the present voltage in the battery, but is not a good indication of a weak or failing battery. So a simple test can be used to determine if the battery is holding a full or partial charge. An indication of a failing battery is when the handset appears to die in the middle of a call and it has not been used very much since last charged. The Test 1) A battery should be good for 8 hours of standby time. To test it, you need to fully charge the battery. 2) Take it off the charger and leave in “on” for two hours. A satellite does not have to be in view for a satellite during this test. 3) Examine at the battery meter, if it is at ¾ strength or better, it is OK. If it is less then ¾, then it is losing it ability to hold a charge. The lower the reading at the end of the test, the worse off the overall battery ability to hold a charge. |
