INMARSAT DATA PRICING In mid-2000 look for INMARSAT to offer data based pricing where you only pay for the megabytes that are transfers and not for the circuit time it will be called INMARSAT Packet Data Service (IPDS). This will be popular fo r web-based services where most of the circuit time is idle. SAVING ON OVERSEAS CALLS Companies are lowering their overseas calling costs by buying two Iridium phones, with Iridium-to-Iridium calls costing on $1.59/min. With Iridium to land-based phones calls at $2.99/min or land-based telephone calls to Iridium costing up to $15/min the saving makes a good return on investment. FREE IRIDIUM FIRMWARE UPGRADE The Motorola 9500 unit have a free upgrade offer for the firmware released in October 1999.
