Iridium 9505A Coming
Iridium is now going to package the 9505A phones with all the
accessories it came with before, so the 9505A will include: 9505A
telephone, User Guide, AC Charger, International Plug Kit, DC Charger,
Battery, Antenna Adapter, Portable Aux Antenna, Headset, Lanyard, and
Leather Holster. Please note the AC charger, DC Charger, and Battery are
NOT compatible with the 9505/9500 equipment. We are taking pre-orders
now at a discount price.
PSN Globalstar Manuals
PSN now has replacement manuals for the GSP-1600 Globalstar telephone
for $20 plus shipping.
9522 Firmware upgrade
This firmware release SAC0309 for the 9522 ‘Sebring’ L-Band Transceiver
corrects two minor defects that affect a very small number of
users/applications. This new firmware release (SAC0309) will be flashed
in new units shipped from Iridium inventory. The previous release of
firmware was version SAC0307. Unless the LBT is used in one of the two
applications listed below there is no need to reflash units deployed in
the field or inventory; 1) Correction of ISU-ISU Data-After-Voice (DAV)
calls that fail during the transfer of large data files, 2) Random PIN
code lockup during power up sequence.
Short Burst Data Changes
In 2005 Iridium will offer FTP for delivery of SBD messages in addition
to the email delivery in place today. This will offer customer better
control and security on the message delivery.
Globalstar down to 40 Satellite
Globalstar originally had a constellation of 48 satellite is now down to
40 working satellites. The 40 remaining satellites will be rearranged to
cover the “holes” in the service areas. It appears ICO will buy a
controlling interest in the company and bring it out of bankruptcy.
