Iridium to AGAIN increase Monthly fee $8 After the fee increase of May 2003, Iridium will again increase the monthly fee another $8 on all post-paid Iridium basic service plans, this makes the Basic plan service fee $34.99. The call rates have remained the same. Infrequent users will fine it less expensive to use prepaid cards. A comparison is on the web site that compares the prepaid and basic service plans. PSN has Iridium ISP PSN has built it own Iridium ISP to offer internet access at Iridium- to-Iridium rates for our customers. Call for details on how you can start saving on data service now. Iridium 9570 Discontinued The Iridium 9570 speaker/desk phone for the 9500 and 9505 is now discontinued. It will be replaced with a new, yet to be announced model. A few new and some refurbished units are left. Iridium Modems Iridium black box modems are available, this have no voice service. They operate with the Hayes command set. They are available with and without built-in GPS. Iridium to Introduce Two-Way SMS Starting in June, Iridium will offer 2-way Short Message Service for the 9505 telephones. SMS to the phone has been in service for awhile now, with SMS from the phone you can now answer those messages without making a call. The cost for the return service has not been announced. Crew cards are used so the Captain does not have to keep track of crew calls. The Crew cards are good for one-year from the first call and can not be recharged. The Captain Card is billed as a regular basic Iridium account and can also access the Iridium data service. $750 Trade-in on Globalstar Phones Iridium is offering a $750 valued pre-paid SIM card for the trade-in of a Globalstar phone with the purchase of a new Motorola 9505 phone. Call for details, offer expires 31 March 2003. Globalstar Battery Test We have a simple battery test for battery charging capacity. For a Globalstar battery you should have 8 hours of standby power. So fully charge the battery, and then leave it on standby for 2 hours. If the battery meter shows 3/4ths, the battery can hold a full charge. Any less, ½ or ¼ means the capacity is reduced and you should plan on getting a new battery. For Sale
