New Engenius Two-way Radios The Engenius two-way radios have shrunk. The new model handset, SN- 920, is half the size of the older model. The old and new units are still functionally the same and will operate together. The handset uses CDMA technology to provide communications between handsets or a base station connected to a telephone line. Conversations are private and not broadcast. These are the most powerful base stations/handsets on the market, with a range of up to five miles. Globalstar Discontinues Packet Modem Globalstar, in a belt-tightening move, has cut support and service for the GCK1620 packet modem. However, data service on the satellite telephone units is working well. Globalstar Up and Downs Globalstar still has not found a way to get cash to run the company after the end of the year. The Qualcomm offer is off for now, and the company is working on a restructuring plan. But they do have some good news. The second quarter report shows 55,000 subscribers, 5.4 million minutes used, and increasing revenues. Globalstar has gotten an order from an Italian electric utility for 4,500 phones and one million minutes of service. The company has $98 million in cash - it looks like a cliffhanger! Dplus Units For Sale Cheap The ten DMR-200 Dplus units did not make it to the boat race. A programming problem delayed shipping, and we missed the time window to make the race. The units work fine and need to find a home. They are for sale at $495 each. They are active and ready to go. Testimonials We have a new picture from Ralph in the Bahamas using his Iridium data kit.
