Iridium is still operating, but for how long? Officially they are closing shop, laying off employees, and de-orbiting the satellites, but there are still some last minute efforts in the works. Stratos dealers are able to offer their Iridium customers a US$100.00 airtime credit for each Iridium phone (either Motorola or Kyrocera) and SIM card(s) returned when the customer purchases a Stratos QUALCOMM Globalstar Tri-Mode Phone at the retail price of US$1,499.00. Stratos will apply the US$100.00 airtime credit against the customer's invoice(s). Customers are required to sign a one-year service agreement with Stratos to take advantage of this offer. The QUALCOMM Globalstar Tri-Mode Hand held Phone from Stratos has superior voice quality and provides reliable communications through digital Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology. Service includes voice, short message and voice mail capabilities. Globalstar coverage currently reaches across North America, Western Europe and parts of Africa, Asia, South America and Australia. The Globalstar offers ends 1 June 2000. Customized Solutions Effective immediately, if Iridium customers request an alternative solution to the options listed above, PSN may offer other INMARSAT products and services such as INMARSAT-M4 or MarineSat/LandSat (AMSC), for each Iridium phone and SIM card returned.
