Palm Pilots and Satellite Telephones PSN has figured out how to use the Palm Pilot for email on both the Globalstar™ and Iridium™ satellite telephones. If you do not care to lug a laptop or configure one just for your trip, we will rent you a Palm Pilot with your satellite telephone plus a temporary email account. Both the Palm and telephone fit into our protective carry case. DataStorm™ PSN will soon be a dealer for the DataStorm™ Ku-band satellite terminal by MotoSat Inc. It is a mobile-fixed, Ku-band unit which automatically sets it self up. No technician is required for setup after the initial installation as the unit will automatically position itself on the satellite with the push of a button. The unit may not be moved when operation and if the unit senses movement, it will shut-down and store itself. It is a 105 lb unit and typically mounted on top of an RV or command van. It is a complete Internet solution that includes everything from the antenna dish to an IP router. Monthly costs go from $98 to $499 for full period service with a maximum down load speeds of 400kb. Please see the web site for details; www.skyhelp.net/datastorm Fishing Boats and Skyhelp Mail PSN now boast several fishing boats as customers. These boats require constant communications with their canneries. To insure they get both their short messages for the phone and email, Skyhelp Mail provides them one email address for both short messages so that both types are displayed on their Iridium phone. This way all messages are recorded in the email account and all messages are displayed on the phone. The first 120 characters of the email is enough to let you know if you need to get it now or it can wait. You never have to wonder if you have email, Skyhelp Mail will send you a phone message to let you know. Plus Skyhelp Mail can be accessed from a web browser too with our web mail service. FlightCell™ and Iridium For those pilots who are not ready for a full installation of Iridium on there aircraft, FlightCell™ has an inexpensive alternative. The FlightCell™ unit goes between your headset and the aircraft audio. It allows for the input of cell phone, satellite phone, music device or whatever into the aircraft headset. In December they will be introducing a new model especially engineered for the Iridium phone. Retailing for about $395, it is an inexpensive alternative to a custom aircraft installation. Globalstar phones only $495 new |
