xThe antenna offers a full metal bracket to attach to a pipe or mast.  The antenna itself sits on a metal shelf, therefore avoiding the casing being cracked if the mounting bolts are over tightened during installation or cold weather shrinking the clamp.

It is a direct replacement for the Iridium OEM fixed mount antenna.  I have used them since 1999 and they perform very well.  The external coax connection(s) must be protected with weatherproof wrapping, like coaxial sealing tape, to insure a waterproof seal over time.

The cabling to the antenna should have a loss of 3db or less.  The cable we typically use is LMR400 at either 10 or 15 meters.  The cable should have a strain relief at the antenna.   The antenna can be mounting on a plastic pipe or at the top of a metal pipe; this will avoid any shading of the sky by the metal.
