PSN SELECTED TO MARKET IRIDIUM(TM) COMMUNICATIONS SERVICESManassas, VA. 16 December 1998 -- Personal Satellite Network, or PSN, a provider of global two-way messaging services, today announced that they are also a reseller satellite services from the Iridium(TM) satellite system. This agreement allows PSN to sell both voice and data allowing our members, and permit our members, located anywhere in world, to communicate with the type of satellite service that best meets their needs. The world of mobile satellite communications is a reality. Communicating from anywhere in the world is now possible. PSN is working hard to be in the forefront of this market as it develops. We recall that just a few years ago, cellar telephones were seen as a rich-mans toy. Today, over 50 million cellular telephone subscribers have made the mobile telephone a necessity of everyday life. We believe satellite telephone and data service will follow that same path. Because it is not economical to install cellular telephone "cells" everywhere, satellites systems expand to help fill the many huge service "gaps" around the world. To take advantage of this growth in service, PSN will soon be offering a dual use telephone that will be both a cellular and satellite device, which can go anywhere and will select the most economical means of communications available. PSN is also famous for the development of a unique, satellite- based TTY service and other advanced messaging services. Until today, persons with speech and hearing impairments have been limited in the mobile communication options available to them. Today, PSN satellite-based TTY gives people with speech and hearing impairments two-way messaging from anywhere in the world International travelers especially have a difficult time with communications. With the high cost of cellular roaming charges, hotel telephone surcharges, local taxes, and international calling charges--if you can find a phone--it may be less expensive and certainly more convenient to use PSN's satellite-based system. "I received a Iridium telephone call from Australia." said Don Rickerson, president and founder of PSN. "The voice quality was amazing, it was like they were calling you from next door and not half-way round the world. Also there was no voice delay that you normally expect from a satellite telephone call." PSN will be reselling Iridium service through STRATOS, with headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.
