Press Releases

These are the press releases we've issued over the last year. You may want to search for topics by keyword.

bulletManassas, VA. 6 January 1999 -- PSN FIRST IN SPACE WITH SATELLITE E-COMMERCE. Personal Satellite Network, (PSN), a provider of global two-way messaging services, today announced they have achieved a first in satellite communications by sending and receiving a credit card verification utilizing the ORBCOMM satellite system. This demonstrates that E-Commerce is possible from anywhere in the world using inexpensive satellite data communications.
bulletManassas, VA. 16 December 1998 -- PSN SELECTED TO MARKET IRIDIUM(TM) COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES. Personal Satellite Network, or PSN, a provider of global two-way messaging services, today announced that they are also a reseller satellite services from the Iridium(TM) satellite system.
bulletNov. 18, 1998 -- WWW Redesign. The Personal Satellite Network (PSN) has re-designed it's WWW site to allow easier access to it's product information, customer service information and on-line ordering.
bulletSeptember 1998 -- FIRST SATELLITE-TO-TTY MESSAGES SENT. Subscriber can now compose a message on a ORBCOMM hand-held satellite terminal and transmit that message to a TTY telephone subscriber.
bulletJune 7, 1998 -- My Day with the GSC-100. This past weekend (7 June) I had a booth at the Manassas Hamfest. I asked Orbcomm to loan me a Magellan GSC-100 hand-held satellite terminal and GPS for our display, and they let me use a beta test terminal for a day. Based on that use, here are my admittedly biased impressions. (The unit had a built in GPS receiver, but since I was not concerned about that capability this article only looks at the satcom features.)
bulletDecember 23, 1997 -- Personal Satellite Network Update, Orbcomm Launch News DULLES, VA. ORBCOMM Global, L.P. (ORBCOMM), the first provider of commercial global low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite data and messaging communications services, today announced the successful launch of eight satellites into their target orbit approximately 500 miles above the Earth.
